2 types of new UBECs were released in Dec. 2007.
1) UBEC-5A-HV: it is a high voltage UBEC that supports up to 10 cells LiPo, so it is very suitable for big EP aircraft and helicopter. With it, the receiver can get its power supply directly from the main battery pack, so the additional 4.8V bettery pack for receiver is unnecessary.
2) UBEC-8A: it is a large current UBEC which outputs 8 Amp current continuously. It is very suitable for big FP (Fuel Powered) RC model. When using it with a 2-3 cells lithium battery pack, you can get a very long flight time, and you needn't worry about the short discharge time of the traditional receiver battery (usually it is a 4 cells NiMh or NiCd battery pack).
